Alta Langa Brut 2021 – Casa E. di Mirafiore

Casa E. di Mirafiore revives the brand founded in the 19th century by Emanuele Alberto Guerrieri, Count of Mirafiore, son of King Victor Emmanuel II and the 'Bela Rosin'. Today it is based at Serralunga d'Alba, next to Fontanafredda, and offers a range of classically styled Piedmontese wines.

Alta Langa is Piedmont's appellation for traditional-method sparkling wine, with grapes from hillside vineyards and at least thirty months on the lees. This cuvée is a Blanc de Noirs made from Pinot Nero alone, grown on the area's white clay and calcareous sand; after fermentation in steel the wine referments in bottle and rests for a long time on its lees.

The 2021 has a fine, persistent bead, aromas of citrus, white-fleshed fruit and bread crust, and a fresh, savoury palate. Ideal as an aperitif, with raw seafood, fried dishes and fish.
