Masi is one of the historic houses of Valpolicella: the Boscaini family has been making wine in these hills since 1772 and has made grape drying the centre of its research. Costasera is its most representative Amarone Classico; this is the limited Chinese New Year edition (Year of the Snake), created for the Chinese market, with a red gift box and golden details, colours of luck and prosperity.
The 2019 is made from 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella and 5% Molinara, grapes dried before vinification. The wine matures for 24 months in oak: 80% in Slavonian casks and 20% in Allier barriques.
Very intense ruby red, with aromas of plum and cherry and toasted coffee notes. On the palate it is balanced, round and warm, with fleshy fruit and present tannins. With braised meats, game, roasts and aged cheeses. The 2019 vintage was awarded 93 points by James Suckling.
