Damilano is one of the historic families of the Barolo village: its roots go back to 1890, when Giuseppe Borgogno began vinifying his own grapes. The name came with his son-in-law Giacomo Damilano, and since 1997 the winery has been run by his grandsons Guido, Mario and Paolo, who have made it known worldwide, with Cannubi as its flagship vineyard.
The Riserva is the Barolo that stays longest in the cellar before release: pure Nebbiolo, made in the classic way and aged in wood and then in bottle, as the rules require, for at least five years in total.
2000 was a warm vintage that produced ripe, generous Barolo. More than twenty-five years after harvest the wine is fully evolved: garnet with orange hints, aromas of dried rose, leather, tobacco, forest floor and spice, with relaxed tannins. A bottle for meditation or to pair with truffle, beef braised in Barolo and long-aged cheeses.
