Colle Bereto is a small estate on the high hills of Radda in Chianti, run for over thirty years by Florentine couple Lorenzo and Franca Pinzauti, who come from the fashion world. The wine's name, Il Tocco (the touch), alludes to that touch of style that defines the house.
The wine has an intriguing history: the first vintage, 1983, was a pure Sangiovese; over time Merlot entered the blend until it became the lead grape, with a small share of Sangiovese recalling its origins. Only a few thousand bottles are made, with winemaking consultancy from Nicolò d'Afflitto.
2015, a warm and generous Tuscan vintage, produced a deep, harmonious wine: cherry, red fruit, tobacco and sweet spice, with hints of leather and pepper that bottle age has brought forward. Polished tannins and good freshness, thanks to Radda's altitude. With roasts, fillet steak or medium-aged cheeses.
At a glance: Merlot 90%, Sangiovese 10% · 14.5% ABV · 0.75 l · Colle Bereto, Radda in Chianti (SI)
