La Grola is one of the signature vineyards of Valpolicella Classica, a hill at Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella farmed by the Allegrini family for decades. The wine of the same name is a dry red made without drying the grapes, outside the Valpolicella rules and therefore labelled Veronese IGT. Since 2010 some vintages have been released as limited editions with artist labels: for 2015 the artwork is "Circuito Dionisiaco" by Leonardo Ulian.
It is based on Corvina with a share of Oseleta, an old Veronese variety that adds colour and structure. Made from fresh grapes, it ages in oak and shows Corvina in a more direct, crunchy style than Amarone.
2015, a warm and generous vintage, produced a full, ripe La Grola: cherry, berries, sweet spice and balsamic notes, with good freshness. In the gift box of the artist edition it also makes a striking present. With red meat, roasts, game and aged cheeses.
