Chateau Musar is the winery that introduced Lebanese wine to the world. Founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar and made famous by his son Serge, who kept harvesting even through the years of civil war, it makes wine at Ghazir, north of Beirut, from high-altitude vineyards in the Bekaa Valley. The Musar Jeune range is its youngest and most approachable expression, made to be enjoyed without long waiting.
The white comes from Viognier, Vermentino and Chardonnay, organically farmed at around 1,000 metres on limestone and silty soils. It ferments in tank at controlled temperature, with no oak, to keep freshness and aroma: Viognier brings fruit and roundness, Vermentino citrus and almost marine notes, Chardonnay structure.
The 2020 is dry and aromatic, with peach, apricot, white flowers, citrus and a fresh, savoury finish. A Mediterranean white that works throughout a meal: with grilled fish, seafood salads, herb-roasted chicken, mezze and Middle Eastern food, or as an aperitif with olives.
