Ornellaia 2005 – Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Ornellaia is one of the great names of Bolgheri and, alongside Sassicaia, the wine that put the Tuscan coast on the world map. The estate was founded by Lodovico Antinori in the early 1980s, the first Ornellaia vintage was 1985, and today it belongs to the Frescobaldi group.

It is a Bordeaux blend built mainly on Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged about 18 months in French oak barriques. Almost twenty years after harvest, the 2005 is fully mature: black fruit has given way to tobacco, graphite, cocoa and spice, the tannins are silky and the freshness still carries the finish.

This bottle comes in its gift box, perfect as an important present or for a collector's cellar. Open it with red meat, game, or simply to celebrate.
