Ornellaia 2021 – Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Ornellaia is, together with Sassicaia, the name that made Bolgheri famous around the world. The estate was founded by Lodovico Antinori in the early 1980s, with its first vintage in 1985, and now belongs to the Frescobaldi family. Each vintage is given a name and an artist's interpretation through the Vendemmia d'Artista project: 2021 is La Generosità (Generosity), entrusted to Marinella Senatore. This bottle comes in a gift box.

It is a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, from vineyards on very different soils, vinified separately and aged in French oak barriques for about a year and a half before the final blend.

2021 is a typical Bolgheri vintage, sunny and dry, producing rich yet expressive and fresh wines. In the glass: Mediterranean scrub, herbs, cypress berries and blackcurrant, dense and precise tannins, a long and vibrant finish. It opens up earlier than some vintages but has the structure to age for many years. With lamb, fillet steak or game.
