Giuseppe Gorelli is one of the most respected names in Montalcino. He started out in the 1980s at the family estate Due Portine-Gorelli and then founded Le Potazzine with his wife Gigliola Giannetti, turning it into a benchmark for classic Brunello. 2018 is the first vintage under his own name, from about six hectares between the northern slope of Montalcino and Sant'Angelo in Colle.
His school is that of Giulio Gambelli, the great master of Sangiovese: organic farming, minimal intervention in the cellar and the idea of letting fruit and place speak for themselves, without tricks.
2018, a fresh, balanced vintage in Montalcino, gave a Rosso of transparent, classic style: crunchy cherry, small red berries, herbs and fine tannins, with lovely acidity. A Rosso di Montalcino to enjoy throughout a meal, with pasta with ragù, grilled meats, cured meats and medium-aged cheeses.
