Alter Ego de Palmer 2019 – Château Palmer

Château Palmer is one of the great names of Margaux, classified Third Growth in 1855 but long regarded as on a par with the First Growths. Alter Ego was born in 1998 not as a simple second wine, but as a different interpretation of the same terroir: more approachable and fruit-driven.

Unlike most Margaux wines, Merlot plays a leading role at Palmer, alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The vineyards, on the gravels of Margaux, are farmed biodynamically, and the wine matures in French oak barriques.

2019, a great Bordeaux vintage, produced a fresh, vibrant Alter Ego: red and black fruit, violet, cedar, spice and silky tannins, with a savoury finish. Already enjoyable, but with good ageing potential. With braised meats, game, red meat roasts and aged cheeses.
