Tenuta Argentiera lies at Donoratico, in the southernmost part of the Bolgheri appellation, with vineyards rising to about 200 metres and looking straight out to sea. The name recalls the area's ancient silver mines. Argentiera, the wine that bears the estate's name, is its benchmark Bordeaux blend.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are vinified separately in stainless steel with long macerations of around 25 days, and each ages for about 18 months in French oak barriques before blending. The altitude and sea breezes give a freshness not every Bolgheri possesses.
2020 was a balanced vintage with good ripeness on the coast. In the glass, cassis, blackberry, Mediterranean herbs, graphite and a balsamic note, with dense yet polished tannins. A Bolgheri Superiore that combines power and elegance, to drink in a few years or decant today; with lamb, rib steak or game.
