Aska 2021 – Castello Banfi

Aska is the Bolgheri red of Castello Banfi, the major Montalcino estate that with this wine set out to take on Tuscany's other great red wine area. The vineyards lie in the Castagneto Carducci area, where the nearby sea gives freshness and elegance to the Bordeaux varieties.

It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, fermented in temperature-controlled steel and then aged for about ten months in French oak barriques and tonneaux: well-judged oak that supports the fruit without masking it.

The 2021 offers blueberry and black fruit aromas, with notes of tobacco, cocoa and a hint of the sweet pepper typical of Cabernet Franc; the palate is soft, full and persistent. A Bolgheri Rosso that is enjoyable young, perfect with pasta in meat sauce, grilled meats, cured meats and medium-aged cheeses.
