Barbera d'Alba 2018 – Cascina Fontana

Cascina Fontana is Mario Fontana's small estate, with its cellar at Perno and vineyards mainly in Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Barolo zone. Mario works "come una volta", the old way: long but not extreme macerations, large Slavonian oak casks, no concessions to fashion.

His Barbera d'Alba follows the same philosophy as the estate's Barolos: Langhe grapes, traditional vinification and ageing that respects the fruit and the grape's natural acidity, without the stamp of new oak.

The 2018 offers cherry, plum, spice and lovely freshness that keeps the palate lively and juicy. An authentic Barbera, great for everyday drinking, with pasta in meat sauce, grilled meats, cured meats and medium-aged cheeses.
