Barbera d'Alba San Michele 2005 – Malvirà

Malvirà is the Damonte family estate at Canale, in the Roero, one of the wineries that have done most to promote the wines of this area on the left bank of the Tanaro. The labels combine tarot symbols with the wheel, a local emblem recalling the coat of arms of the Counts of Roero.

The San Michele Barbera comes from the vineyard of the same name, on the sandy, calcareous soils typical of the Roero, which give fragrant, fresh wines. After fermentation and maceration in steel, the wine matures in oak and then in bottle.

A 2005 now has twenty years of development behind it: the fruit has become ripe and candied, joined by spice, tobacco, leather and tertiary notes, while Barbera's acidity still supports the palate. A bottle for the curious, to try with braised meats, bollito misto, cured meats and aged cheeses.
