Geremia 2012 Toscana IGT by Rocca di Montegrossi is a Super Tuscan of great structure and refinement, born in the heart of Chianti from a Bordeaux blend that enhances the terroir of Monti in Chianti.
Produced from Merlot (62%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (38%) grapes grown under certified organic cultivation, this wine embodies the vision of Marco Ricasoli Firidolfi, heir to one of the founding families of Chianti Classico. The vineyards are located in Gaiole in Chianti, on a high-altitude plateau with calcareous, gravelly soils, which give the wine elegance, freshness, and depth.
Vinification involves spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, followed by 24 months of aging in medium-toasted Allier French oak barriques, and an additional 18 months in bottle without filtration. The result is a powerful and intense wine, yet balanced and velvety.
It has a deep ruby red color with purple highlights. The nose offers complex aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant, and wild blackberry, accompanied by notes of vanilla, licorice, dark chocolate, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is soft and structured, with ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long, persistent finish.
With an alcohol content of approximately 14.5%, Geremia 2012 has received 94 Falstaff points and confirms its position as one of the most representative labels in the IGT Toscana category. It pairs perfectly with red meats, game, braised meats, and aged cheeses, but also serves as a meditation wine for enthusiasts and collectors.
