Giulio Ferrari is the most prestigious cuvée of the Trentino house and bears the name of its founder, Giulio Ferrari, who in the early twentieth century was among the first to believe in the traditional method in Trentino. For decades it has been the benchmark of Italian sparkling wine, built to stand the test of time.
It is a Blanc de Blancs made solely from Chardonnay grown in mountain vineyards owned by the Lunelli family. The 2010 spent at least 123 months on the lees before disgorgement: more than ten years that give it rare complexity. The producer's technical sheet lists it as Extra Brut.
A rainy vintage rescued by a dry, breezy September that delivered grapes with excellent acidity. In the glass it is golden with a very fine perlage; on the nose apricot, tropical fruit, white chocolate, nuts and toasty notes; the palate is rich, harmonious and very long. With shellfish, rich risottos, fine fish or simply on its own.
