The Grumello Riserva 2012 Valtellina Superiore DOCG from Dirupi is an elegant and minerally mountain Nebbiolo, handcrafted on heroic terraces in the heart of Valtellina.
This wine is made from Chiavennasca grapes (100% Nebbiolo) grown at approximately 550 meters above sea level on sandy, porphyry soils in the Grumello cru, one of the most suitable in the appellation. The Dirupi winery, founded by two young winemakers, is known for its biodynamic and manual approach: every phase, from pruning to harvesting, is carried out by hand to respect the terroir's natural beauty.
The 2012 harvest was selective, with maceration on the skins for approximately 35 days and aging in 20hl Allier oak barrels for over 24 months, followed by bottle aging. The result is a robust yet refined wine, with a bright ruby red color and aromas of dried flowers, spices, red fruits, and mineral notes. On the palate it is structured, fresh, with elegant tannins and a long persistence, which reflects the verticality and tension typical of Valtellina Nebbiolos.
