Petra was founded in 1997 in Suvereto, in Val di Cornia, by the Moretti family, with a winery designed by architect Mario Botta and set into the hillside. Hebo is the most approachable red of the house: its name recalls the ancient Etruscan settlement of Ebo, and its vines grow on the iron-rich hills of Val di Cornia.
The 2023 Hebo is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, then the wine is aged in oak, in barriques and larger casks, before bottling.
Clear ruby red, with aromas of hibiscus and raspberry and a hint of lavender in the background. On the palate it flows with great ease, with a lively structure and a juicy, medium-long finish. Excellent with grilled red meat, cured meats and aged cheeses; serve at 16-18 °C.
