Il Borro 2016 Toscana IGT is an organic Super Tuscan of great elegance and structure, produced by the Il Borro estate, owned by the Ferragamo family, in the heart of Tuscany.
This wine is the winery's flagship label, a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, grown on sandy and loamy soils at approximately 300 meters above sea level in the Valdarno Superiore. The harvest is manual and selective, with fermentation in stainless steel and maceration on the skins for 22 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in barriques. It is aged for 18 months in French oak and an additional 8 months in bottle.
Il Borro 2016 presents a deep ruby red color. On the nose, it offers intense notes of black fruits, plum, sweet spices, leather, and tobacco, with mineral nuances that balance the sweetness of the fruit. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, with well-integrated tannins and good acidity, which supports a long and harmonious finish. The alcohol content is 14.5% vol.
This wine received 96+/100 from Robert Parker, 96/100 from James Suckling, and 93/100 from Falstaff, confirming its position as one of the best Super Tuscans of the vintage.
