In addition to the pure Merlot that characterizes the most recent versions, a touch of Sangiovese was also present, adding tension, freshness, and a touch of Tuscan classicism. The balanced and luminous 2001 vintage yielded perfectly ripe grapes that the winery—a pioneer of biodynamics—transformed into a profound, elegant wine with great longevity. In the glass, notes of dark fruit, cocoa, graphite, balsamic herbs, and dark spices emerge; on the palate, it is silky, harmonious, and long, with a substantial structure that is beautifully integrated with time.
