Malvirà is the Damonte brothers' winery at Canale, in the heart of the Roero, on the left bank of the Tanaro facing the Langhe. It is one of the estates that have done most to establish the Roero as a land of great Nebbiolo and Arneis, working by single vineyards; it has been certified organic since the 2017 harvest.
Trinità comes from the vineyard of the same name and is one of the house's historic crus. The grapes ferment and macerate in stainless steel; the wine then matures in oak casks and completes its ageing in bottle. The sandy soils of the Roero give Nebbiolo more immediate aromas and finer tannins than in the neighbouring Langhe.
2011, a warm and generous vintage, produced a wine of fine fullness that now shows a complete evolution: ripe red fruit, dried flowers, spice, tobacco and tertiary notes over tannins that have become polished. A mature Nebbiolo, best opened a little in advance, with braised meats, game, roasts and aged cheeses.
