Arcanum 2015 – Tenuta di Arceno

Arcanum is the flagship of Tenuta di Arceno, at San Gusmè in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the south of Chianti Classico. The estate, with a winemaking history going back a thousand years, has belonged since 1994 to the Jackson family (Jackson Family Wines, California), who entrusted the wines to French vigneron Pierre Seillan.

Seillan studied the estate plot by plot, identifying dozens of micro-crus on very different soils: galestro, clays, sands. Arcanum comes from the best parcels of Bordeaux varieties, with Cabernet Franc in the lead; each parcel is vinified separately and the wine ages in French oak barriques before blending.

2015, a warm, sunny vintage in Tuscany, produced a rich, harmonious wine: ripe red and black fruit, tobacco, black pepper, graphite and sweet spice, with fine tannins and good freshness. A Bordeaux-style Super Tuscan with an eye on Saint-Émilion, perfect with red meat, game and aged cheeses.
