Luce 2000 Toscana IGT from Tenuta Luce – Frescobaldi is a historic Super Tuscan, born from a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, embodying the Frescobaldi family's innovative vision in the heart of Montalcino.
Produced at Tenuta Luce, founded in the 1990s by Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi, Luce 2000 represents one of the first Tuscan expressions of an international blend, aiming to combine the elegance of Sangiovese with the roundness of Merlot. The 2000 vintage, considered an excellent vintage in Tuscany, has produced a wine of great structure and longevity. Vinification involves fermentation in stainless steel and aging for approximately 24 months in French oak barriques, which imparts notes of vanilla, spice, and well-integrated wood.
It is an intense ruby red with garnet highlights. On the nose, it offers elegant aromas of ripe red fruits, sweet spices, and delicate herbaceous notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with velvety tannins and a refined balance of fruit, oak, and minerality. The alcohol content is 14% ABV, and the wine has received 89 Falstaff points, confirming its status as a wine for long aging and meditation.
