Borgogno e Carbone is the project of two friends, Fabrizio Borgogno and Stefano Carbone, who imported French wines before making their own and run a restaurant in La Morra. Their starting point was the Borgogno family vineyards at Verduno, one of the Barolo villages.
The Langhe Nebbiolo comes from Verduno vineyards at 350-400 metres on sandy soils, many of them old vines. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts and production runs to a few thousand bottles, in an artisanal, low-intervention style.
2020 was a warm but balanced vintage that produced generous Nebbiolo, enjoyable early on: cherry, raspberry, rose, sweet spice and an earthy note, with tannins present but well integrated. A versatile, honestly priced Langhe Nebbiolo for charcuterie, tajarin, veal and medium-aged cheeses.
At a glance: Nebbiolo 100% · 14% ABV · 0.75 l · Borgogno e Carbone, Verduno (CN)
