Inama is a name linked above all to Soave, but for years the family has also made reds in the Colli Berici, south of Vicenza. Here it has focused on Carmenère, a Bordeaux variety long mistaken for Cabernet Franc in Veneto vineyards and now rediscovered as one of the area's specialities. The wine's name recalls the oratory of San Lorenzo.
Oratorio di San Lorenzo is the flagship Riserva of this project: pure Carmenère from hillside vineyards in the Berici, made for structure and depth and aged at length in wood and then in bottle.
The 2009 is now over fifteen years old: a mature red in which black fruit merges with Carmenère's typical spicy and herbal notes, pepper, herbs, tobacco and balsamic and tertiary hints, with tannins that have softened. A rarity for anyone wanting to discover the lesser-known red side of Veneto. With red meat, game and aged cheeses.
