Oreno 2007 – Tenuta Sette Ponti

Oreno is the flagship of Tenuta Sette Ponti, the Moretti Cuseri family estate in the Valdarno near Arezzo. First made in 1999 out of Antonio Moretti's passion for the great reds of Bordeaux, within a few years it became one of the best-known Super Tuscans of inland Tuscany. The name is that of a stream that crosses the estate through a clay-rich area.

It is a Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot from south-facing vineyards at around 250 metres: Merlot on the more clay-rich soils, Cabernet on pebbly, free-draining ground. The wine matures in French oak barriques and then in bottle before release.

2007, a warm and generous vintage in Tuscany, is now more than fifteen years old: ripe black fruit gives way to dried plum, leather, tobacco, dark chocolate and balsamic notes, with tannins now polished. A Super Tuscan in its mature phase, for lovers of evolved aromas. With roasts, game or aged cheeses.
