Schulthauser is one of Alto Adige's best-known Pinot Biancos, made by St. Michael-Eppan (San Michele Appiano), the historic cooperative made famous by winemaker Hans Terzer. The name comes from the Schulthaus vineyard on the hills of Eppan Berg, along the Wine Road.
The vines lie between 540 and 620 metres above sea level, where the swing between day and night temperatures preserves aroma and acidity. The wine spends a few months partly in stainless steel and partly in large oak casks, which add some roundness without masking the fruit.
The 2025 is young and bright: golden apple, pear, white flowers and a lovely savoury, mineral streak. Excellent as an aperitif and with seafood starters, vegetable risotto, baked fish and white meat; a reliable South Tyrolean classic worth always having in the cellar.
