Amarone della Valpolicella Il Bosco 2016 – Gerardo Cesari

Gerardo Cesari founded his winery in 1936 and was one of the pioneers of Amarone, among the first to take it to export markets. Il Bosco is one of the house's most representative Amarone Classico wines, one step below the Bosan Riserva.

The grapes, Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, come from hillside vineyards in Valpolicella Classica on alluvial soils rich in clay and sand. After about ninety days of drying in the fruttaio, the wine matures in steel and in wood, both barriques and tonneaux, before a period in bottle.

The 2016 is a warm, smooth Amarone: dried red fruit, sweet spice, cocoa and a long finish. With braised meats, game, red meat roasts and aged cheeses.
