Maffrei is the project of brothers Andrea and Stefano Mascarello, two young oenologists from La Morra raised in a family with a long winegrowing tradition, who work alongside their father and uncle. A small estate of about three hectares that has quickly made a name for itself, abroad too, for clean, bright and highly drinkable wines.
The vineyards are in La Morra, including Torriglione, planted by their grandfather, and a plot in the highest part of the village, on sand-dominated soils. The Nebbiolo is partly fermented with whole clusters and aged in stainless steel, a choice that highlights the grape's aromas and freshness rather than oak.
2021, a balanced vintage with lovely freshness in the Langhe, produced a floral, spicy Nebbiolo: rose, crunchy cherry, raspberry, pepper and fine tannins. A Langhe Nebbiolo modern in style but true to the grape. With tajarin with ragù, vitello tonnato, grilled meats and medium-aged cheeses.
At a glance: Nebbiolo 100% · 14% ABV · 0.75 l · Maffrei, La Morra (Langhe)
