Produttori del Barbaresco is one of the most respected cooperative wineries in the world, founded in 1958 by Don Fiorino Marengo, the parish priest who brought together nineteen local growers to make wine from their grapes together. This Riserva, made in the great 2016 vintage, bears his name as a tribute to the founder.
The idea is that of the great Barbarescos of the past: rather than vinifying single crus separately, as with the Produttori's famous Riservas, it blends the best grapes from the village's historic vineyards, on calcareous marl with sandy veins. Around a month of maceration and 30 months in large oak casks.
2016 is regarded as an exceptional vintage in the Langhe, cool and long, giving Nebbiolo of great class. In the glass, rose, cherry, liquorice, spice and hints of forest floor, with dense tannins and lively acidity. A classic Barbaresco to age in the cellar and a special edition for those who love the history of this appellation. With braised meats, truffle or aged cheeses.
