Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba 2015 – Ettore Germano

Ettore Germano is a family winery in Serralunga d'Alba, now run by Sergio Germano, who alongside his single-vineyard Barolos has made a name for Alta Langa sparkling wine and for whites from the high hills of Cigliè. The Barolo del Comune di Serralunga is his entry into Barolo, designed to express the village rather than a single plot.

The grapes come from several parcels in the commune, at 330-400 metres, on clay-limestone soils with sandy deposits. Three to four weeks of maceration in steel, then 18 to 24 months in casks of different sizes and ages, without letting the oak mask the fruit.

2015 was a warm, sunny year that produced generous, open Barolos. Serralunga adds its backbone: ripe red fruit, dried rose, spice and earthy notes, with dense tannins already rounded by time. With roasts, braised meats, finanziera or medium-aged cheeses.
