Il Bruciato 2019 – Tenuta Guado al Tasso (Antinori)

Il Bruciato is the Bolgheri Rosso of Tenuta Guado al Tasso, the Antinori family's large estate on the Bolgheri plain, which also makes Guado al Tasso itself and Matarocchio. It was first made in 2002, one of the estate's most difficult vintages, to offer a more immediate expression of the Bolgheri terroir.

It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The varieties are vinified separately; malolactic takes place partly in barrique and partly in stainless steel, then the wine ages in barriques before blending and bottling.

2019 came from a cool spring and a hot, dry summer, followed by a sunny August and September that brought the grapes to full ripeness. In the glass: black fruit, Mediterranean scrub, spice and soft tannins. A generous Bolgheri, enjoyable already, with grilled meat, pasta with ragù and salumi.
