Comm. G.B. Burlotto is one of the historic wineries of Verduno, in the Langhe: the family has made wine since the nineteenth century and today it is run by Fabio Alessandria, who has made these Barolos among the most sought-after by enthusiasts worldwide. The style is classic, built on finesse, perfume and transparency rather than power.
The estate Barolo is a blend of grapes from several of the family's vineyards, following the Langhe tradition of combining different characters to achieve balance. Winemaking is traditional, with long macerations, and ageing takes place in large oak casks.
2018 is a fresh, fragrant vintage that produced Barolos more open and approachable in their youth. In the glass rose, small red fruits, spice and herbs, with fine tannins and an elegant, savoury palate. Enjoyable already, but able to evolve. With tajarin with ragù, beef braised in Barolo, roasts and medium-aged cheeses.
