Comm. G.B. Burlotto is one of the historic houses of Verduno, founded in 1850 by Giovan Battista Burlotto and now run by Fabio Alessandria, best known for his Barolo Monvigliero. The house style is classic and bright, focused on finesse and aroma rather than power, and the Langhe Nebbiolo is a faithful portrait of it.
The grapes come from small plots in the commune of Verduno, between 270 and 350 metres, on limestone soils with clay, silt and sand. Hand harvest, fermentation in open stainless-steel tanks and French oak vats with gentle daily punch-downs, then ageing in large French oak casks and bottling the summer after the harvest.
2020, a warm but balanced vintage, produced a floral, spicy Nebbiolo: rose, cherry, raspberry, pepper and fine tannins. An accessible way to discover the style of one of the most sought-after producers in the Langhe. With agnolotti, tajarin with ragù, grilled meats and medium-aged cheeses.
