Lisini is one of the historic family estates of Montalcino, based at Sant'Angelo in Colle on the southern side of the appellation. The climate here is warmer and drier, shaped by nearby Monte Amiata and the breezes rising from the Maremma.
The vineyards lie between 350 and 500 metres and are farmed traditionally, with cluster thinning and careful selection at harvest. The Brunello, pure Sangiovese, matures for 36 months in large Slavonian oak casks: a classic style that aims for depth and longevity rather than oak.
2016 is one of the best recent vintages in Montalcino, balanced and very fresh. In the glass, cherry, spice, leather, herbs and remarkable depth, with dense, refined tannins. A Brunello for the cellar that will reward patience; with roasts, braised meats, game and aged cheeses.
